Future Trucker Competition

This competition was developed years ago by the Maine Motor Transport Association as a way to engage the next generation of truckers – to have them sharpen their skills and be around mentors competing at the MMTA’s Professional Truck Driving Championships.

Student competitors will be judged on the Pre-Trip Inspection, the Written Test and their Driving Skills. Each component of the competition will be judged by industry professionals and/or current law enforcement, which adds another beneficial aspect – for them to be mentored and to connect with leaders in the field they are studying.

THE COMPETITION IN A NUTSHELL:

  • Two classes of competition – 5-axle Van and Straight Truck;
    • 1st, 2nd, 3rd place trophies for each class, plus a Team Trophy for the school with the best overall score;
  • To be held in conjunction with the MMTA’s Professional Truck Driving Championships on the third Saturday in May in Bangor/Hermon, giving students exposure to mentoring opportunities from professional truck drivers;
  • Free to participate due to significant trucking industry support;
  • Limit four students per school.

WHEN: the third Saturday in May

WHERE: Dysart’s in Hermon
