FutureTech Competition

This competition was developed years ago by the Maine Motor Transport Association (mmta.com) as a competition for students from CTE schools, to have them sharpen their skills and be around mentors competing at the MMTA’s Professional Technician Skills Competition.

Student competitors will be putting their knowledge and skills to the test on many of the important things being taught in a CTE program. There is a general knowledge written test, as well as ten specifically-focused workstations. Each component of the competition will be judged by industry professionals, which adds another beneficial aspect – for them to be mentored and to connect with leaders in the field they are studying.

THE COMPETITION IN A NUTSHELL:

  • After the general knowledge written exam, workstations include Tire and Wheel, Engine (Electrical), Precision Measurement, Automated Transmission, Starting and Charging, Brakes, Engine (Mechanical), Wheel End, Fasteners, and Emissions
  • To be held in conjunction with the MMTA’s Professional Technician Skills Competition on the third Saturday in May in Bangor, giving students exposure to mentoring opportunities from professional technicians;
  • Free to participate due to significant trucking industry support;
  • Limit four students per school.
  • Trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Winners, Written Test, Each Workstation.
