MMTA Workers’ Compensation Trust members will see additional savings in their January premiums, this time in the form of a 6% rate decrease for 2026. The Trustees of the program are confident the Bureau of Insurance will approve the actuarially sound funding plan as they consider the unprecedented strength of the group’s renewal application. This marks the lowest rates have been in the Trust’s 35-year history and it comes at a time where predictability and stability continue to be needed by Maine businesses.
The credit for the group’s continued success rests entirely with each and every member company and the program’s ability to continue to keep rates stable and predictable is the result of an incredible amount of hard work, dedication and focus by members. This news should also be seen as proof that being selective when it comes to underwriting, and insisting upon consistent application of the stringent rules of group self-insurance is a formula for success that the Trust does not intend to change anytime soon.
2025 has been a year of great news and unprecedented savings for WCT member companies. After sharing the largest refund in program history in the spring ($2.3M), they now enjoy the announcement of a significant rate reduction going into 2026.
