The John Austin Trucking Foundation is pleased to announce that Richard Godin of Caribou has been awarded a $2,000 award in recognition of his commitment to building a career in Maine’s trucking industry.
Godin recently achieved his goal of earning his Class A CDL through Northern Maine Community College’s Commercial Driving Academy, a major milestone that will allow him to continue advancing within the transportation industry.
Currently employed at Caldwell’s Auto in Limestone/Fort Fairfield, Godin assists with the transportation of vehicles, equipment, and parts. Those who work alongside him describe him as hardworking, dependable, and eager to learn, noting his strong work ethic, determination, and positive attitude in every challenge he takes on.
Letters submitted in support of his JATF application highlighted Godin’s desire not only to earn his CDL, but to become the best professional driver he can be. Supporters also praised his initiative and commitment to expanding his skills in order to take on greater responsibilities and contribute more to both his employer and Maine’s trucking industry.
As a single father balancing work and family responsibilities, Godin said the scholarship support has helped him achieve an important career goal while creating greater financial stability for himself and his family. He plans to continue building his career while pursuing additional endorsements and training opportunities in the future.
The John Austin Trucking Foundation is proud to support individuals like Richard who are helping strengthen the future of Maine’s trucking workforce.
