We’re excited to announce that the MMTA’s Career Exploration Unit will be at the SkillsUSA Maine State Leadership & Skills Conference on March 12–13, 2026, held at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor! This statewide event draws over 1,300 students from across Maine who are competing in hands‑on skill competitions and leadership events across the different career and technical (CTE) areas offered in our state. From welding and automotive technologies to health sciences, construction, business, and more. Students gain real‑world experience, meet industry professionals, and put their training to work under pressure.
For the past three years, MMTA’s Training Coordinator, Randy DeVault, has chaired the SkillsUSA diesel equipment and technology programs event which is hosted at Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC), and this year we’re expanding our presence by bringing the MMTA Career Exploration Unit to introduce Maine students to careers in trucking. As one of the largest student events in the state, it’s a great way for us to connect with young people, open their eyes to career paths in our industry, and support their future in Maine’s trucking industry.
Volunteer Members — Join us!
We’re looking for volunteer MMTA members to attend and assist us with the MMTA Career Exploration Unit during the event. If you or a member of your team are interested in spending part of your day sharing your story with the future of our industry, please review the recommended qualifications, and fill out our volunteer application.
Member Companies — Promote Your Business & Support the Next Generation
We encourage MMTA member companies to take advantage of this unique opportunity to support SkillsUSA and promote your business. Companies are welcome to set up their own tables as part of the event, giving you the chance to:
- Market your company and services
- Share career opportunities, internships, and training pathways
- Meet motivated students interested in diesel technology, logistics, and commercial driving
- Demonstrate your commitment to strengthening Maine’s trucking industry
To reserve space, discuss pricing, and coordinate your table setup, companies must work directly with SkillsUSA. Please email SkillsUSA Maine Director Harold Casey at hcasey@skillsusamaine.org for registration details.
Your participation not only helps students explore meaningful career paths, but also shows your support for workforce development and the future of our industry. Together, we can connect students with real opportunities and help shape the future of Maine’s trucking industry.
